Private Pilot Certification Vs Commercial Pilot Certification

Private Pilot Certification

A private pilot certificate is for those who want to fly as a hobby. Whether you have your own plane or will be renting one, a PPL (private pilot license) allows you to fly for personal travel and business if it is your business. You cannot be hired or compensated for flying with a private pilot certification.

Private Pilot Certification Requirements:

  • Be at least 17 years old

  • Pass the FAA medical exam

  • Have at least 40 flight hours, with at least 20 hours of instruction and 10 hours of solo flight
